The Fraser Valley was at the top of the podium three times at the BC 55+ Games curling event staged in Coquitlam earlier this month.
The 55+ Men’s, Women’s and Mixed teams all hailed from the Fraser Valley. The other gold medalists were a Men’s 65+ North Island team and a Mixed 65+ South Island team.
The winning 55+ Men’s team was a Langley team with Bill Nickerson, Kevin Jeannotte, Al MacKinnon, Bill Tallentire and Kent Royer.
The winning 55+ Women’s team was composed of Aldergrove’s Claire Morrison, Surrey’s Karen Lepine, Coquitlam’s Terry Parent and Langley’s Betsy Terpsma.
The winning 55 + Mixed team was composed of Dianne and Russ Knutson of Chilliwack and Kerri and Victor Miller of Hope.
The winning 65+ Men’s team was composed of Courtenay’s Daryl Wright and Reg Tressel and the Comox duo of Jack Holden and Dan Carroll.
The winning 65+ Mixed team had Ron and Joan Danderfer, as well as Val And Barry Turner, of Victoria.
The lone 65+ Women’s team, who hailed from the Fraser Valley,was awarded a gold medal as well.
The event, chaired by Curl BC board member Dale Gregory, took place at the Coquitlam Curling Club from Sept. 20-24. One game from the event was broadcast on Shaw TV.
