Jacobs Crazy Eight-Ender
In The Dominion Men’s Northern Ontario Curling Association Championship semi-final on Saturday afternoon, Jacobs team of EJ Harnden, Ryan Harnden and Scott Seabrook scored an extremely rare eight-ender in the sixth end in their 14-3 victory over Sudbury’s Tim Phillips. Eight-enders are infrequent in club curling and completely unimaginable at the highest level of curling.

2012 Northern Ontario Men’s in the Soo
The Dominion Men’s 2012 Northern Ontario Provincial Championship takes place Sunnday, February 5 to Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Soo Curling Association in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Twelve of the best Men’s teams from across Northern Ontario will compete in the provincial championship to represent Northern Ontario at the Tim Horton’s Brier in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from March 3 to 11, 2012.

2012 Ontario Scotties in Kenora
The 2011-12 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts takes place Monday, January 23 to Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Kenora Curling Club in Kenora, Ontario. Ten of the best Women’s teams from across Ontario will compete in the provincial championship to represent Ontario at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Red Deer, Alberta from February 18, to 26, 2012.

2012 NOCA Junior Provincials
The 2011-12 Northern Ontario Junior Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships take place Thursday, January 5 to Sunday, January 8. The Atikokan Curling Club will be hosting the Junior Men while the Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club will host the Junior Women. Eight Men’s and Women’s teams are playing in this weekend’s competition after qualifying through playdowns in their respective areas.

McCarville back to defend NOCA Championship
The Copper Cliff Curling Club in Sudbury, ON plays host to the 2011-12 Northern Ontario Women’s Curling Championship from December 9 to 11. Four spots in the Ontario Women’s Championship are up for grabs with defending Northern Ontario champion Krista McCarville looking to take one of them.

Northern Ontario part of Canadian Curling future
Brad Jacobs and his team will have the opportunity to represent Northern Ontario at National Championships for many years to come. The Canadian Curling Association along with all 14 Member (Provincial/Territorial) Associations passed a resolution and business plan that dictates the inclusion of all Member Associations at all National Championships. This means that all Associations will have the opportunity to earn a berth in all National Championships.
